RMIT Symphonic Orchestra

The RMIT Symphonic Orchestra was dreamed up not long after the collective was founded, however it wasn't until the relative success had by the collective and the string ensemble in 2008 that the dream was finally realised.

Initially, rehearsals were smaller than expected, but things soon picked up and by the end of it's first semester it had grown to a 25 piece orchestra, becoming the largest band within RMIT music. The orchestra gave it's first public performance at the 2008 end of year concert, and were asked to play for the mid year orientation that year - before they'd even had their first rehearsal!

Sadly, over 2009 and 20010, the membership of the orchestra slowly dwindled, and by 2011 we had too few members to continue it. We would love to rectify this, but we need your help! We need all you string, woodwind, brass and percussion players to join the other groups, and to express your interest in reforming the orchestra! Conductors as well! If you want to help revive the orchestra, we want to know about it!
